Rebholz, R Hansjorg Rebholz 2018
While this Pinot Noir offers a full-bodied, intense experience, it offers equally delicate and fruity notes throughout. This wine is a great depiction of the versatility that the variety can offer.
Characteristics
Tasting Notes:
Nose of sour cherries, red berries and smoky notes. On the palate-invigorating acidity and refined tannin structure. Of great elegance and great length. Wonderful food companion.
A very elegant and at the same time expressive Pinot Noir from 2018 with an enormously dense, complex structure and a lot of character. The scent is reminiscent of sour cherries and red wild berries. The storage in newer, small wooden barrels contributed to the smoky, spicy smell. The finish is warm and quite harmonious. A wine with great aging potential!
Gastronomy:
Wonderful food companion. A great accompaniment to beef fillets or beef steaks and BBQ meats as well as flavourful stews.
Vineyards:
Soil: shell limestone
Due to the subsidence and the faults in the Rhine Graben and the strong uplift of the Palatinate Forest, very old and otherwise very low-lying geological formations come to light in the area around Siebeldingen. Our Pinot Noir vines grow on shell limestone soil that was created in the Triassic period 240 million years ago. Soil consists of “lime containing or composed of shells”. That is why one often finds fossils of marine creatures in the ground. Limestone soil is the best prerequisite for all great Burgundies/Pinots in the world!
Ageing method:
New and used French and Palatinate oak barrels were used for the two-year storage in wood. For quality reasons, the wine was neither fined nor filtered.
Interesting notes:
This wine is organic certified, practicing biodynamic.
